Senior citizen arrested in JB for setting rented house ablaze

JOHOR BARU: Police have arrested a jobless man who is suspected of setting a house on fire on Friday (April 30) at around 12.15am. Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Padzil Mohd Zain said the 65-year old man was also the tenant of the single-storey house in Jalan Maju 3, Taman Pelangi, near here. “We received a distress call from a woman informing us of the fire and asking for assistance from firefighters and the police, he said on Friday. ACP Padzil said police are looking for witnesses to assist with the investigation. He said the case is being investigated under Section 436 of the Penal Code/25 (1) (n) National Registration Rules 1990 for causing mischief by fire with intent to destroy.

And today, daily cases stayed above the 2,000 level, climbing further to 2,551 from 2,148 yesterday. This is the highest number of infections seen in over two months. This shows that the Malaysia s Covid-19 infections curve is steepening again. The cumulative confirmed infections has now soared to 370,528, from 115,078 as at Jan 1. New cases were back above the 1,000 mark over the last 18 days, after briefly falling to 941 on March 29. Prior to that, new cases had continuously stayed above the 1,000 mark for over four months.

Out Of Ten Clusters Detected Yesterday, Five Of Them Came From The Workplace, Says MOH
