KUALA TERENGGANU (Bernama): A lorry driver was charged in the Magistrate’s Court here Tuesday (May 11) with a murder of a woman whose burnt body was found by the roadside on April 17.
Badrul Hisham Mat Jusoh, 37, from Bukit Payong, Marang only nodded his head when the charge was read to him before Magistrate Nordiana Abd Aziz.
However, no plea was recorded from the accused as the murder case was under the purview of the High Court.
The man was accused of having murdered Che Janiah Jaafar, 55, at KM16 Jalan Kelantan, Kampung Padang Air between 9.30pm on April 16 and 7.15am on April 17 and he was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code which provides for mandatory death sentence upon conviction.

KUALA TERENGGANU: A total of 1,700 law enforcers will be assigned to conduct patrols to ensure compliance with Covid-19 standard operating procedures (SOP) during Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Terengganu.
Terengganu police chief Datuk Roslee Chik said they would be divided into 103 teams involving the Royal Malaysia Police, the Malaysian Armed Forces, RELA (People’s Volunteer Corps) and several other agencies.
“The main focus of the patrols would be in Besut to ensure that there are no interstate crossing attempts using the ‘rat routes’ during this festive season. We have detected an increase in rat routes in Besut from 15 to 26 lanes.”

NERUS: An unidentified burnt body was found by the roadside along Jalan Kuala Terengganu-Kelantan in Kampung Padang Air near Tepoh, here, this morning.
Kuala Terengganu District Police chief ACP Abdul Rahim Md Din said they received a call regarding the discovery of a body at 8.15 am today, and a police team was dispatched to the scene.
“A body, which was burnt, except for the right calf, was found in a prone position about three metres down a slope. The investigation was conducted by the police forensic team and the K9 Unit.
