GEORGE TOWN: Following a backlash on the blanket ban on the sale of alcohol beverages during the three-day Thaipusam festival, the Penang Island City Council (MBPP) has made a U-turn and rescinded the notice with immediate effect.
GEORGE TOWN: The gold and silver chariots for Thaipusam have both departed one after the other for the long procession across the city, a journey that is expected to take an entire day to reach their destinations.
WHILE the silver chariot retained the tradition of depending on two bulls to pull it across the city, the golden chariot was powered by a motorised vehicle this Thaipusam.
