A stunning photo of godwits in flight at Snells Beach, captured by Alan France, has won first prize in the nature and landscape section of the Bayleys This Is Us photo competition.
The entry earned high praise from chief judge Peter Young who said the photo beautifully captured the amazing godwits and the migrating nature of the Mahurangi wildlife.
“The image pulls you in to the detail, it has beautiful colour and is well composed,” he said.
