PUTRAJAYA: The new Director-General of the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (Jakim) is appointed based on her 30 years of service, especially with the department.
PETALING JAYA: Investigations into the meat cartel are not being carried out by the Islamic Development Department of Malaysia (Jakim), says its research division director Datuk Dr Sirajuddin Suhaimee.
In a Facebook live broadcast entitled “Halal Certification SOP: What went Wrong?”, he noted that other government agencies were looking into the matter and called on the public to wait for their findings.
“The issue is now under the scrutiny of several government agencies and although Jakim is involved in the process of halal certification, we do not have the authority to expose the name of the brands involved or comment about the issue, ” he said.
