The first week of 2021 ushered in a new in era in Burlington County politics as Democrats took full control in several Burlington County towns.
Two women now lead the all-Democratic Lumberton Township Committee, both firsts in the township’s history.
Newly elected Gina LaPlaca and Committeewoman Rue Ryan were sworn in by Gov. Phil Murphy as mayor and deputy mayor, respectively.
LaPlaca joins Ryan and Committeewoman Kendra Hatfield, marking another historic first the first time women have held a majority on the dais.
