Queensland second-rower Felise Kaufusi could miss the opening State of Origin match after being charged with tripping in Melbourne's win over Brisbane.

Queensland were hopeful of having Ponga back on deck for Origin I on Wednesday night but he is in grave doubt for the series opener and Kaufusi could join him on the sidelines after his mishap at Suncorp. Should Kaufusi submit an early-guilty plea, he will miss one match - ruling him out of Origin I. His only hope of appearing for Queensland lies with a successful defence at the NRL judiciary should he and Melbourne choose to fight the charge.

Walsh and Dunn were hit with charged over incidents in the same tackle, Dunn with a grade one dangerous contact charge on Walsh and Walsh with a grade one striking charge on Dunn. Both will receive a one-match ban with an early guilty plea or risk two-match bans if they plead not guilty and lose at the judiciary.
Pompey is also facing a one-match ban with an early plea or two at the judiciary for a crusher tackle, while Leilua faces the same potential punishments for a shoulder charge on Dragons forward Blake Lawrie.
