Just one game on Monday, with Round Rock falling to Oklahoma City by a score of 8-6 for their first loss of the year.
Brock Burke got the start in his first official game action after missing the 2020 season. It was a very rough outing, as he gave up 5 runs on 5 hits and 3 walks while striking out 3 in 1.1 IP, but he was also back out there and pitching at least. Jimmy Herget gave up 2 runs in 1.2 IP. Jharel Cotton threw three scoreless, Jake Lemoine gave up a run in two innings of work, and Luis Ortiz had a scoreless inning.

A full slate of games as Round Rock started play today.
For Frisco, Tyler Phillips had an impressive 2021 debut, throwing 4 shutout innings and striking out 5, with 2 hits and a walk. Hever Bueno had a 1-2-3 5th with a pair of Ks, and went out for the sixth, but after retiring the first batter he walked the next three, which ended his night. Joe Gatto came on in relief of Bueno and, whatever issues he may have had in camp, he didn’t have them today, as he went 2.1 hitless IP, striking out 3 and walking 1. Fernery Ozuna had 1.1 shutout innings to finish it out.

The Rangers weren t afraid to buck the consensus in the 2020 Draft, selecting each of their five picks higher than the majority of clubs would have. Mississippi State second baseman Justin Foscue still would have gone in the first round if they hadn t taken him 14th overall, but high schoolers Evan Carter, Tekoah Roby, Dylan MacLean and Thomas Saggese raised more eyebrows.
Texas liked what it saw from those prep products when they got their first taste of pro ball during instructional league and continues to be enthused after watching them in Minor League Spring Training. Carter and Roby proved advanced enough to make their pro debuts at Low-A Down East next week, while MacLean and Saggese could join them early in the summer.
