× A HIT-AND-RUN driver who killed a man on the M1 near Barnsley fled the country to Slovakia, an inquest was told.
The inquest into the death of 25-year-old Jake Glover-Brown, from Barnsley, concluded he died as a result of injuries sustained in the collision which occurred on October 18, 2019, at around 11.55pm.
He had been drinking with a friend before attempting to cross the northbound carriageway on foot near junction 35A.
He died instantaneously, the inquest held at Sheffield’s Medico Legal Centre by assistant coroner Tanyka Rawden was told.
Lukas Kandrac, 24, was handed a four-month prison sentence, suspended for two years, and disqualified from driving for 12 months after the incident.

A driver who hit and killed a man as he attempted to walk across a motorway fled the country after the crash, an inquest has heard.
Jake Glover-Brown, 25, was hit on the M1 near Barnsley in 2019.
He died instantaneously , Sheffield Coroners Court heard, and driver Lukas Kandrac abandoned the vehicle and took a flight to Slovakia.
When he returned to the UK he told police he had panicked . He was later charged with failing to stop.
