This spring is setting up to be one of the driest on record after a mild winter with rivers that have already hit their peak in southern Manitoba.
While this means flooding is unlikely, it brings in the potential for drought which is already causing heightened levels of wildfire risk and will impact the growing season for farmers.

“The fire hazards are already increasing,” said Dave Carlsen, a meteorologist for Environment Canada. “It’s really, really dry, it’s warming up and there’s pretty much no snow cover left.”
