Ipswich Town clung on to claim a place in the third round of the FA Youth Cup via a fighting 2-1 victory over a spirited Exeter City side at Portman Road.
Ipswich Town’s U18s manager Adem Atay was relieved his team had progressed to the third round of the FA Youth Cup but couldn’t hide his disappointment at a poor second-half performance.
Town s U18 side came from two goals down to salvage a 4-4 draw against Crewe Alexandra at Playford Road on Saturday morning. Teddy Baker and Lewis Reed netted in the first half but the young Blues conceded four times before the break, only to fight back and grab a point thanks to second-half strikes from Harley Curtis (pictured) and Baker from the penalty spot.
Town s U18s produced an impressive display to beat third-placed Millwall 5-3 at Playford Road on Saturday morning in their first game back after the Christmas break. Tyreece Simpson (2), Idris El Mizouni, Dylan Crowe and Lounes Foudil netted the goals for the Blues who remain second in the Professional Development League Two South table.
