On Friday, the Income Tax Department conducted raids at over thirty premises linked to Samajwadi Party legislator Pampi Jain. As per sources, the raids have indicated tax evasion of around Rs 150 crore.
These raids assume significance in the context of the upcoming assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, with the Samajwadi Party alleging 'misuse' of central agencies against political opponents.
The Income Tax Department conducted raids at the premises of Samajwadi Party MLC Pushpraj Jain Pampi and other perfume makers in Uttar Pradesh’s Kannauj on Friday.
Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that central agencies are being misused to target the Opposition and said he will approach the Election Commission and President over the issue.
