Belizean pirates in Honduras Recently, there has been a spike in the number of incidents of piracy and in one case, someone was shot and robbed before pirates made off with his boat. The Belize Police Department and the Coast Guard have been working in collaboration to deter the transnational organizations that have been committing these crimes in Belizean waters. But these men are not only working in our waters, proven when a group of persons, including at least five Belizeans, were busted in the Baja Mar community of Puerto Cortez. They were found by Honduran authorities with stolen engines and other items last week and are expected to be levied charges by the Belize Police Department.
