Meanwhile, Md Jahurul Haque, former chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission, has been made a new commissioner of the national anti-graft agency. Moinuddin is replacing Iqbal Mahmud as the chairman of the ACC, whose term will end on Mar 13, while the tenure of Commissioner (Investigation) AFM Aminul Islam expires at the same time. Another member of the commission, Md Mozammel Haque Khan, a former senior secretary of the home ministry, will stay in office until July 2023. The law requires the government to choose the ACC chairman from a pool of three commissioners, each appointed for a term of five years.

Besides, former Chairman of Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC) Md Jahurul Haque has been made a commissioner of the national anti-graft body. A notification, signed by Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam, was issued on Wednesday in this regard. Moinuddin is going to replace Iqbal Mahmood as the ACC chairman, whose five-year term will end on March 13, while Jahurul Haque will replace Commissioner AFM Aminul Islam. Moinuddin Abdullah served 35 years in public service in various capacities.

The tenure of the current commission will expire on March 16. Moinuddin, a former senior secretary to the agriculture ministry, will enjoy the status of a judge of the Supreme Court Appellate Division. Jahurul on the other hand will have the status of a judge of the High Court Division. Moinuddin began his career in public service as a magistrate in 1983. In August 2018, he retired as a senior secretary in the agriculture ministry. Earlier, he was the secretary of the Ministry of Housing and Public Works, and secretary/secretary in-charge of the industries ministry. From May 2009 to May 2010, Moinuddin looked after the affairs of the Prime Minister s Office in the capacity of director general.
