Vibrant colors and artistic designs breathed new life into a National City vacant building that was for years plagued by graffiti and trash.
Hundreds of people, including volunteers, artists and politicians, came to the blighted H&M Goodies Family Auction House on Eighth Street last weekend to paint murals on the vacant building.

The event was a coordinated by local nonprofit A Reason To Survive, which helps empower youth through creative expression.

Last year, when the city’s tourism and marketing district was under management of the chamber of commerce, its CEO Jacqueline Reynoso said it was identifying tourism development opportunities and the proposal came forward for public art.
