Arestoaguinaldo is a fake arrest. Cops would go to the work areas of “suspects” and they would be brought inside police vehicles. But instead of heading towards the police station, the cops would surprise the “suspects” with gifts.
CHR spokesperson Atty. Jacqueline de Guia said that serving an arrest warrant is a law enforcement process that must be carried out within the rigors of due process and in the name of rule of law.
“Such process should not be trifled with nor diminished into a prank for it impacts fundamental rights and law enforcement is no laughing matter,” she said.

The security guard was shot dead in front of their regional office. CHR Spokesperson Atty. Jacqueline de Guia said that they are strongly condemning the brazen attack, which “speaks of the pervasiveness of violence and the thick shroud of impunity that darken our society.”
“This appalling crime also has security and safety implications to the CHR as an institution considering that it happened in front of our regional office,” said de Guia.
“Amidst the prevalence of red-tagging and the continuing intimidation and disinformation against the Commission for its steadfast push for human rights, this act of violence within our compound is deeply concerning,” she added.
