SB to weigh 11 applicants for interim board position
Ten more members of the community applied for an open spot on the Ketchikan School Board by the time the application period closed on Tuesday evening â a show of interest unprecedented in recent years.
On Thursday, the Ketchikan School Board will hold a special meeting to interview the candidates and decide whom to select for the position.
The board last week postponed an interview it had scheduled for the applicants for the spot and reopened the application period, after only one person, former Board President Trevor Shaw, applied by the deadline.
At that May 26 board meeting, two members of the public urged the board not to appoint Shaw to fill the position.
