Keighley Rotary Club has staged the contest for years, as the local round of a national event. But this time, due to the restrictions surrounding Covid-19, the competition took on a very different look. The usual live performances were replaced with a virtual version. Sixteen entrants – vocalists and instrumentalists – each produced a ‘home video’ of their piece, which they then submitted to the organisers. Participants ranged in age from nine to 18. Judges Jess Mahler and Emily Overend reviewed all the performances and provided feedback to each young person, before deciding on the winners. The duo praised the standard of entries.
