Each week we take an in-depth look at young members of the organization while providing an overview of prospects playing at the Junior (OHL, WHL), and collegiate (NCAA) level.
The Everett Silvertips, Gianni Fairbrother’s team, is one of the most distinctive teams in Junior hockey. Defence is their identity. It’s not a unique strategy, coaches at every level of hockey put an emphasis on that aspect of that game, but the Silvertips take extra pride in it. Limiting goals is simply what they do; their formula for success.
Over the past six years, the team finished in the top two in goal prevention and they are once again on pace to finish at or near the top this season. Considering the cyclical nature of success in Junior hockey, as veteran players come and go and as teams move from rebuild to contention, this kind of long-term consistency is more than impressive.

Laval was back in action on Friday night, just two days after their nail-biting 5-4 victory over the Belleville Senators in Ottawa. Originally scheduled to be a weekend off, the game kicked off a back to back against the Senators, and a chance for the Rocket to keep their red-hot streak rolling.
Joël Bouchard opted for a few minor lineup changes after the win on Wednesday, inserting Cam Hillis in place of Jan Myšák on the fourth line, while Terrance Amorosa replaced Jacob LeGuerrier on defence. In net Michael McNiven got the start, looking to improve on his stellar 6-1-2 record for Laval this season.

To paraphrase Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson here, FINALLY, Cole Caufield has joined the Montreal Canadiens in a professional capacity. The 2019 first-round pick suited up on Friday for the Laval Rocket as they took on the Toronto Marlies in Toronto. While Caufield garnered all of the attention, the Rocket themselves came into the contest looking to bounce back after their first regulation defeat in 13 games.
Caufield slid in next to Jordan Weal and opposite of Yannick Veilleux on the second line, while Rafaël Harvey-Pinard dropped down to the third line. Jacob LeGuerrier suited up for his second professional contest as well on a pairing with team captain Xavier Ouellet. The recently demoted Charlie Lindgren got the start in net, with Vasili Demchenko serving as his backup.
