The term progressive is such a broad one when it comes to music. It can be
avant garde and complex with purposely out-of-time rhythms creating a sonic miasma. These complexities can also ride a groove, making funky sounds and opening the door for various elements to be incorporated. Worcester’s Zigmont leans toward the latter, while never being afraid to make it a little weird. The trio of guitarist and co-vocalist Jacob Leevai, bassist and co-vocalist Nicholas Chiancola and drummer and pianist Akiba Davis recently put their music in physical form with the EP Zigmont Whispers, which was released Feb. 26.
