SAN DIEGO
Local artists will use dance, poetry and music to pay tribute to nonprofits that serve southeastern San Diego neighborhoods in an upcoming virtual concert presented by the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation.
The “Be About It” concert will be streamed on social media on Saturday, Nov. 14. It will feature original music, dance, poetry, rap and comedy skits created in honor of seven nonprofits.
Nonprofits across San Diego have lost funding from canceled events because of the coronavirus pandemic, and some are struggling to secure donations, organizers of the event said. A concert highlighting the work they continue to do despite being impacted by COVID-19 is a creative way to rally economic and public support, said Christie Marcella, director of economic development and innovation with the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation.
