South African Billionaire Chairs CAF by Acclamation
Patrice Mozebi, a South African billionaire, became president of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), by acclamation, after the withdrawal of all rivals before the elections to the presidential seat, scheduled to take place on March 12th in the Moroccan capital, Rabat.
Today, Monday, the CAS Court of Arbitration for Sport issued its decision that Ahmed Ahmed, the former president of CAF, was suspended for five years by the International Federation.
Today, CAS reduced Ahmed Ahmed’s sentence, of which he served two months from November 19, 2020, to January 29, 2021, from five years to two years, which means that he will not run in the elections scheduled for next Friday.
