Jacksonville-based Southeastern Grocers is building-out a new Winn-Dixie liquor store format in Miramar Center, not far from the historic San Marco neighborhood.
Williams & Rowe Co. Inc. is the contractor for the estimated $180,000 interior renovation of 8,640 square feet for Winn-Dixie at 4472 Hendricks Ave. in Miramar Center. That cost could change before the permit is issued.
The site is at the southern end of the building anchored by Players Grille.
The store is larger than the traditional Winn-Dixie Wine & Spirits stores. For example, the new store being added at 11380 Beach Blvd. is 2,665 square feet.
Southeastern Grocers did not share details about the new Miramar store.
The City Council approved a bill 18-0 on April 13 to rezone the former Regal Cinemas property on Beach Boulevard to allow for multifamily development.
A JEA Service Availability letter dated Oct. 21 from PG Investco LLC states it wants to build a 350-unit community called Presidium Beach Blvd.
A JEA report for March 30 said the number of units is 400.
Attorney Paul Harden is listed as the applicant. The rezoning application seeks to rezone the property at 14051 Beach Blvd. from commercial community general to high-density residential.
A Regal Cinemas spokesperson could not be reached about when the theater closed, but the location no longer is listed on the company website.
