The Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp announced May 6 it agreed to terms on a 10-year lease extension with the city of Jacksonville to keep the minor league baseball team at 121 Financial Ballpark through March 2043.
City Council must approve the deal.
In addition to the lease extension, the team, through Jacksonville Baseball LLC, would retain 30% of gross concession revenues for club events that are not home games. According to legislation filed May 5 with Council, that revenue currently is retained by the city.
The Jumbo Shrimp have played at 121 Financial Ballpark, owned by the city and managed by ASM Global, since 2003 when the team was named the Jacksonville Suns.
