In 2019, Winchester’s Jackson Savage started Got Insulin, a drive that collected more than 300 vials of insulin and supplies.
Two years later, his brother and friend are trying to one-up him.
Winchester High School sophomores Ellie O’Connor and Charlie Savage are collecting unexpired Insulin as well as diabetes testing, pumping, and continuous glucose monitor supplies.
“This drive was begun in honor of Alec Smith, a Type 1 Diabetic who couldn’t afford the Insulin he needed to live,” Ellie said in an email. “With the advent of the Covid-19 pandemic, we have refocused this program to address the disproportionate danger that the Covid-19 pandemic presents for all people who need Insulin to survive.”
