Jacklyn Gise Jorgensen es el nombre de la madre de Jeff y con tan solo 17 años se convirtió en madre del que años después se convertiría en el fundador de Amazon. Transcurría 1964 cuando ella aún estaba en la secundaria, motivo por el cual los administradores de su escuela le dijeron que no se le permitiría terminar su carrera.
Luego Jacklyn regresaría a su escuela bajo condiciones estrictas. De esta manera logró graduarse y luego se divorció de Ted Jorgensen, padre de Jeff.
También se dedicó a trabajar como secretaria para mantener a su hijo. En la universidad sus maestros le permitieron llevar a su bebé a las clases. Allí conocería a su esposo
