Spotswood council adopts ordinance requiring car removal during snowstorms
SPOTSWOOD–The Borough Council adopted an ordinance requiring that all residents must remove their vehicles off roads during snowstorm emergencies.
Before adopting the ordinance, Chief of Police Michael Zarro said this year brought some extraordinary circumstances, and extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary measures.
“It’s not our goal of the police department to ticket the residents, we try to go above and beyond all the time for our residents, but we were at a really critical point. The mayor and I were in constant communication and we were monitoring the weather,” Zarro said. “We had some changes in the weather where it became sleet, and some ice and some rain and a combination, which limited some of the snow that we were anticipating in the snow, we were at a critical point.”

The mum-of-one, who has lived on Hogshaw Villas Road since 2007, described Hogshaw - bordered by allotments, homes and the railway - as “a little oasis”.
She said: “We’re a very close-knit community all living close to the field - if there’s ever any trouble we deal with it as a community.
“If this is allowed to happen it’s going to change the place so much - that green space is so important because none of us really have gardens.”
As well as the loss of a crucial green space residents fear the traffic increase that comes with 124 new homes will badly impact on air quality.
They simply wrote: “Remembering Jackie Palmer who would have been 100-years-old on 9th January, 2021. “We miss you so much. Love from all the family.” The Jackie Palmer Stage School was founded by Jackie and her daughter Marylyn Phillips in 1971, with hundreds of students learning from the pair and other instructors over the years. James Corden – who grew up in Hazlemere – was just one of the stars who learnt their craft at the school. He praised Jackie and the team for their impact on his life when returning to his home in 2014 to open their Bridge Street studios. At the time, he said: “I used to love coming here; it was the single best part of my week.

More than 45 residents attended the swearing-in ceremony and reorganization meeting virtually via video conference; however, some residents did attend the meeting in person.
