SUISUN CITY Kris Reiger lifted the covering from the door of the dog kennel, and the young male golden eagle hooked its talons on the metal mesh.
“He was ready to go,” said Reiger, who has been the wildlife care coordinator for the Suisun Wildlife Center since 2013. Prior to that, she was a volunteer.
The six-week rehabilitation of the eagle was under her care.
“I didn’t know a lot about animals,” Reiger said, noting she did have a background in medical assistance. “But I read a lot and went to a lot of classes.”
