QUESTIONS have been raised regarding the future of Haddington’s current Aldi store. The supermarket chain is due to move from Whittingehame Drive to a new store at Gateside Retail Park, on the town’s western edge, by the end of September. Building work is under way at the new retail park, which will also have as tenants The Food Warehouse, part of the Iceland family, and Costa Coffee. However, questions surround the future of the town centre site, where Aldi has been based for more than a decade. The issue was raised at Haddington’s community council meeting last month by group member Jack Worden.
