DANBURY The City Council’s new president is a longtime resident who aims to keep Danbury’s quality of life strong.
Republican Vinny DiGilio was narrowly voted in Tuesday evening as the head of the council, replacing new Mayor Joe Cavo, who had held the position since 2006.
“It’s a humbling experience that I’m honored to do and continue to serve the Danbury community as best we can and continue to keep Danbury on the right track,” DiGilio said last week.
Democrats nominated minority leader Paul Rotello for president, but DiGilio won the position in an 11-to-10 vote along party lines. Council members applauded DiGilio after the vote, while Rotello wished him “congratulations.”
