EAST LIVERPOOL City council’s Finance Committee agreed Tuesday to forward three pieces of legislation to council-as-a-whole, including the purchase of a new street sweeper.
The Elgin Whirlwind street sweeper will be purchased from Jack Doheny Companies for $305,842 through the state’s cooperative purchasing program.
According to Safety-Service Director David Dawson, the sweeper itself will run $291,283 plus a five-year warranty and lease agreement.
Half of the cost will be covered by moneys for the R&R fund, while the water and stormwater funds will split the remainder.
Councilman Ray Perorazio, who sits of the Finance Committee, was concerned that the sweeper was the right one due to issues with its predecessor.
