The Bailey Library in Winthrop will virtually host Theresa Kerchner, executive director of the Kennebec Land Trust, at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24. The event is the second part of a yearlong series celebrating Maine women that will run through 2021. Kerchner will give a presentation on land conservation and stewardship in central Maine.
Established in 1988, the land trust has partnered with landowners in 21 communities to conserve Maine’s landscape. Some of the most popular properties include Vaughan Woods in Hallowell and Farmingdale, the Mt. Pisgah Conservation Area in Winthrop, and Horseshoe Island on Cobbossee Lake. In addition to land management, the land trust is also known for their many miles of trails.
