CLEVELAND â The Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio are urging local leaders to work on a comprehensive plan for better community outreach to curb growing inner-city teen violence.
Jeff Scott, President of the Boys and Girls Clubs of Northeast Ohio, said he is heartbroken over two shootings that claimed the lives of 15-year-old Anthony Hughes Jr. and 13-year-old Ja-mari Jones over the past week.
Police reported Hughes Jr. had just left a Boys and Girls Club location when he was shot by someone on Dec. 9 near the intersection of East 55th Street and Scovill Avenue.

(Cleveland) - Police now say the shooting death of a 13-year-old boy was connected to a drug deal gone bad.
Cleveland Police say Ja Mari Jones was in a van with two other teenagers who had gone to the Lakeview Terrace public housing complex on the near west side to buy drugs. Police say the three teens were robbed by the group with whom they were dealing, and then shots were fired into the van as it sped away. One bullet hit Jones in the head.
The van s driver stopped at a restaurant on West 25th just south of Detroit Avenue, and called 911. Jones was pronounced dead at MetroHealth.

CLEVELAND, Ohio (WOIO) - A 13-year-old boy was riding in a car with two older teenagers when he was shot and killed Monday evening during a suspected drug deal, according to police.
Cleveland police said JaâMari Jones and an 18-year-old male and a 16-year-old male were on Loop Drive on the cityâs West side around 6:30 p.m.
