EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - In the opening contest of the 2021 Missouri Valley Conference Championship, the University of Evansville softball team fell to Loyola by a 3-1 final at Cooper Stadium.
UE (23-22) senior Eryn Gould went 1-2 in the contest with two walks. Those walks helped her secure a new program record with 98 in her career. That passed Nicole Farris’ total of 97, which was set in 1997. She also officially set the program records for single season batting (.418) and on-base percentage (.566). Gould is just the second Evansville player to bat .400 in a season.

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - For the first time in her University of Evansville career, Izzy Vetter threw a no-hitter to spearhead a dominant 11-1 victory over Bradley to clinch the weekend sweep on Sunday at Cooper Stadium.
Vetter had a masterful effort for the Purple Aces (23-19, 11-12 MVC), striking out five Braves (17-20, 10-14 MVC) batters while allowing one run and two walks. UEâs offense erupted for 11 runs in the 5-inning win, led by Alyssa Barela, who hit a 3-run home run. Eryn Gould registered her 11th long ball of the season to lead off the game. Jessica Fehr had another multi-hit day, going 2-3 with a pair of RBI. Hannah Hood also had two runs batted in.

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. (WFIE) -An exciting back-and-forth contest saw the University of Evansville come out on the winning end of a 7-5 contest against Indiana State on Tuesday afternoon.
Senior Katie McLean was the hero, belting a 2-run homer in the 10th inning to help UE (20-19, 8-12 MVC) clinch the season series against Indiana State (17-23, 10-11 MVC) after the teams split last weekâs doubleheader at Cooper Stadium. McLean was 2-5 on the day with three RBI while Jessica Fehr also had two hits. Eryn Gould garnered four walks and scored twice.

DES MOINES, IA. (WFIE) - Trailing by a 5-2 margin entering the 7th inning, the University of Evansville softball team staged a furious rally, but came up just short with Drake taking a 5-4 victory on Sunday afternoon at Ron Buel Field.
Leading the Purple Aces (18-16, 6-9 MVC) was the trio of Eryn Gould, Katie McLean and Alyssa Barela, who posted two hits apiece. Gould reached base three times with two hits and a walk. Haley Woolf recorded her second home run of the season in the contest. Izzy Vetter gave up two runs on two hits in three frames while Erin Kleffman tossed the final three innings. Emily Valtman was the top performer for the Bulldogs (11-25, 5-10 MVC), going 2-3 with four RBI. Nicole Timmons picked up the win in the circle, allowing four runs on four hits in her six innings.

CARBONDALE, Ill. (WFIE) - Marah Wood hit a 3-run blast while Izzy Vetter picked up her 10th victory of the season to help the University of Evansville softball team split Sunday’s doubleheader against Southern Illinois at Charlotte West Stadium.
UE (18-13, 6-6 MVC) opened the day with an 8-2 win before the Salukis (28-7, 10-4 MVC) held on for a 4-1 decision in the second contest.

The offense erupted for eight runs in Sunday’s opener, which was highlighted by a 3-run home run from Marah Wood. UE wasted little time in jumping out front, plating two runs in each of the first two innings. Eryn Gould and Wood each posted 1-out hits to bring Alyssa Barela to the plate.
