Japan, PH conclude 11th high-level meeting on infra, economic development cooperation

Published July 29, 2021, 9:35 AM The governments of Japan and the Philippines have successfully concluded the conduct of the 11th High-Level Joint Committee Meeting on Infrastructure Development and Economic Cooperation between the two countries. In the virtual meeting held on Wednesday, July 28, both sides recognized the significant developments achieved in ongoing joint infrastructure projects and pandemic-response cooperation measures as a result of the high-level joint committee meetings held in the past few years. Some of the fruits of the previous Philippines-Japan engagements include the Metro Manila Subway rolling stock contract signing, LRT-2 extension, Parañaque Spillway Flood Control Feasibility Study, COVID-19 Crisis Response Emergency Support Loan, Post-Disaster Standby Loan Phase 2, AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine provision, and cold chain facility development for the vaccination rollout.

PH, Japan to hold virtual high-level infra meeting

Published July 26, 2021, 7:00 AM High-level Philippine and Japanese officials are set meet to virtually this week to discuss infrastructure development and economic cooperation between the two nations. On July 28, Finance Secretary Carlos G. Dominguez III and Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Karl Kendrick T. Chua will meet with Izumi Hiroto, Special Advisor to the Prime Minister, who will represent the Japanese government. This will be the second time that the Japan-Philippines Joint Committee on Infrastructure Development and Economic Cooperation will be convened online, the Department of Finance said. The discussions will focus on the status of the Japan-funded projects under the “Build, Build, Build” program and Japan’s assistance to the Philippines’ COVID-19 response efforts, including its ongoing mass vaccination program.
