GANVIé (BENIN) - On a small island surrounded by hundreds of wooden huts on stilts, in the middle of Lake Nokoue in southeast Benin, a giant painting is taking shape.
For the past three hours, in 41 degrees Celsius (106F) heat, French artist Saype has been busy transforming a playground in the floating village of Ganvie.
Shapes gradually appear on the grass in grey and black paint from the nozzle of his sprayer.

Burkina Faso is pursuing its road modernization plan. This year, the country plans to invest more than CFA105 billion (€160 million) in big road projects.
This decision was reported following a meeting of the members of the budget review committee. It involves “Development of the classified road network, urban roads, railway, airport, maritime and cartographic infrastructures.” The committee met in Ouagadougou on Tuesday 6 April.
According to Ollo Franck Hervé Kansié, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and chairman of the review committee, the program targets 12 road projects. “As of December 31, 2020, out of a forecast of CFA97.22 billion, CFA75.13 billion has been executed, making a rate of 77.28%,” he said.

Roxgold extends mineralisation at Seguela in Cote d’Ivoire

Since its discovery in September 2020, the Koula deposit at
Roxgold’s (TSX: ROXG; US-OTC: ROGFF) Seguela gold project in Cote d’Ivoire, 240 km northwest of Yamoussoukro, has “blown all our expectations for the project out of the water” says the company’s president and CEO John Dorward.
“The latest drill results from the deposit continue to build our confidence that Koula has the potential to significantly extend the mine life at Seguela through a high-grade underground mining operation,” he said in an interview.
