BACOLOD CITY - Deaths due to the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) in this city have reached 168 in September, with most fatalities still unvaccinated, the Emergency Operations Center-Task Force (EOC-TF) reported on Tuesday. City Administrator Em Legaspi-Ang, EOC-TF concurrent executive director, said the number is more than double compared to 76 deaths recorded in the same month last year. Based on the latest data, 140 of the 168 fatalities were unvaccinated while only 28 were inoculated. "Unvaccinated patients are mostly those who developed severe Covid-19 illness," Ang said. She added that the city has now a daily average of 109 infections. The city's hospital capacity utilization rate (CUR) report dated September 30 also showed that 58 unvaccinated individuals developed severe illness upon contracting the virus and were all admitted to hospitals for intensive treatment.
