Heres the late breaking decision. Reporter in a 61 vote the Oakland Unified School District Voted to pass 9 million in budget cuts that parents, students, and teachers said were excessive. The fight over a proposed 9 million budget cut at the Oakland Unified School district began. This is not acceptable. This is a manufactured crisis. All the way into the school board meeting. Once inside the crowd booed their disapproval as the superintendant tried to explain the cuts saying it was a matter of solvency. So i want to go over just the central and school level cuts. Were working to cut contracts. [ indiscernible ] [ booing ] they said Unfilled Positions will remain that way. And more than 5 million will be cut from the Central Office downtown meaning nearly four would have to come from school sites. The president of the Oakland Athletic association said some cuts are necessary but 9 million are excessive. They do have to cut, thats a legal requirement. And they probably have to add more
