“The learning process is still big and we try to do less mistakes each day,” said Sirena. The four-day World Series regatta, and the Christmas Race on Sunday, act as a build-up for all four teams, before the challengers begin their selection series mid-January. Getting an AC75 around the race course is as much about flying as sailing, at speeds of up to 50 knots, and the lack of time on water, as American Magic’s Terry Hutchinson observed, made “time the number one enemy of teams.”
