The restaurant industry has faced a year like no other. Capital Region restaurants had to adjust to a shutdown and restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. While some were able to adapt with more takeout and delivery options, others were forced to close their doors. The news wasn t all bad, however. The Blue Hen at Adelphi Hotel, Saratoga Springs
We learned in November that the Adelphi Hotel in Saratoga Springs closed its fine-dining restaurant, The Blue Hen, replacing it with an expansion of the hotel’s more casual offering, Morrissey’s Lounge.
Brazilian Steak House, Colonie
The quick-serve concept, featuring rotisserie meats, about 20 hot sides, salad bar and other food items that opened in 2019 in the home of the former Truman s Restaurant closed this year.

Bumpy s Polar Freeze, Schenectady
The ice cream stand closed down after a year in which its last operator was accused of sending racist texts, mistreating employees and violating health codes. Next spring, it will be instead known as Stella’s Creamery & Cakes.
