The traditional ruler of Ewu Ekiti in Ilejemeje Local Government Area of Ekiti State, Adetutu Ajayi has been hospitalised after he was shot by gunmen.
He was shot Friday evening while in transit to a neighbouring town in Ido/Osi Local Government Area of the state.
Locals said the gunmen rained gunshots on the official car of the monarch but he escaped death but has since been hospitalised.
The attack on the monarch comes barely 24 hours after gunmen invaded a petrol station at Isan Ekiti in the same local government area and abducted the manager of the station, Itakorodo Adebayo, after sporadic gunshots.

Traditional rulers in Ekiti State on Saturday condemned the shooting on Friday evening of one of them, the Elewu of Ewu Ekiti in the Ilejemeje Local Government area, Oba Adetutu Ajayi.
Oba Ajayi, who was travelling along Ewu Ekiti-Ayetoro Ekiti Road, was attacked by armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, who shot at his car. The monarch, who sustained gunshot injuries, is at present receiving medical attention at a tertiary hospital in the state.
The attack on the traditional ruler came barely 24 hours after gunmen invaded a petrol station at Isan Ekiti in the neighbouring Oye Local Government Area and abducted the manager of the station, Itakorodo Adebayo, after sporadic gunshots.

Some gunmen have reportedly kidnapped the General Manager of Prosperous Filling Station, Itakorodo Adebayo, at Isan-Ekiti in Ekiti State.
The incident, according to the police, occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Thursday when the gunmen stormed the filling station.
They came with six motorcycles and shot sporadically before whisking away the victim.
The police spokesperson in Ekiti, Sunday Abutu, in a statement confirming the incident said the police and other security agencies have been deployed to the bushes to rescue the victim.
“A team of Police Operatives and Detectives including the Amotekun Corps and the local Hunters have been deployed to rigorously comb the bushes and the forests across the State to ensure the rescue of one Itakorodo Adebayo, the General Manager of prosperous filling station, Isan-Ekiti, who was abducted by unknown gunmen numbering about eight(8) at about 1900hrs on Thursday 8th April, 2021.”
