something more has to be done about guns, that the senate won t act? this is not normal. what we re seeing in this country is not necessary, not normal. it s preventable. there are solutions. for far too long our politicians have been doing the bidding of the gun lobby. they don t answer to what the american people want and need which are steps to be taken to make our country safer. he should call the senate back and the senate should vote on these measures. more than 90% of americans support them. will they vote for it? is the power and the money of the gun lobby stronger than the american people? think about all the responsible gun owners? could they not stand up and says the nra no longer represents what our beliefs are? absolutely they could and they should. in fact, the nra s approval ratings have been tanking lately. they re under so much attack, whether it s under investigation, internal dissent. not only do they not represent gun owners, they don t even represent nra memb
in the midst of all this stuff with the president talking about el paso and dayton, he s also tweeted about china. he once again tweeted the lie that americans are not paying for these tariffs. china is retaliating after the president increased tariffs on china last week. that s why you re seeing the reaction. china is suffering an economic burden, that s for surement we need to remind our audience, president trump is up for re-election, xi jinping is not. he ll be holding that position for the rest of his life. even if they are suffering, they can hold tight. the president, of course, is trying to get interest rates to come down. it s a battle he is trying to win with his own federal reserve chair. he got an tryst rate cut last week of 25 basis points. let s see he gets a bigger one. what happens if the market still drops. did you know civilians own more than 393 million guns in this country? that s more guns than people. what does congress need to do about gun safety reform.
those things. what they don t vb is the kind of access to guns we have. it doesn t mean we don t want americans to have proper access to mental health. that s not the problem with our gun violence problem in america. it s absolutely no regulation at the federal level since the shooting at sandy hook, parkland, the federal government has done absolutely nothing. the house of representatives did pass bills after the shooting at parkland, but the senate has yet to even take them up for a vote. mitch mcconnell needs to call the senate back to volt on these bills. he still hasn t even called them up. they re doing nothing. this is why the call is in place in the last few days for the senate to get back into session. just walk me through this. what would happen if the senate came back into session? mitch mcconnell is not ready to present this to the floor. he doesn t seem at all interested in holding a vote on it. it doesn t seem it would pass anyway. what s the holdup here? why is it when
