King: I didn t consent to revocation

Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah PUTRAJAYA: Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah says the government’s decision to revoke six Emergency Ordinances was made without his consent. In a statement issued by Istana Negara yesterday, the King also felt “greatly disappointed” that the revocation of the ordinances was not tabled in Parliament by the government. “Article 150(2b) read with Article 150(3) of the Federal Constitution clearly provides that the power to enact and repeal Emergency Ordinances rests with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong. “In this regard, His Majesty expressed great displeasure at the July 26 statement in Parliament that the government had revoked all the Emergency Ordinances that the King had promulgated during the Emergency period, despite His Majesty having yet to give consent to the revocation.

The order for the closure was made by the local authorities after the Ministry received a report by the Hotspot Identification by Dynamic Engagement (HIDE) secretariat. Ministry secretary-general Datuk Zainal Abidin Abu Hassan said the decision was made during the National Security Council special meeting on Wednesday.

Covid-19: King proclaims nationwide Emergency until Aug 1

PETALING JAYA: The King has proclaimed a state of emergency nationwide from Tuesday (Jan 12) until Aug 1 as a proactive measure to contain the Covid-19 pandemic. Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah agreed to the decision after a meeting with Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday (Jan 11). Al-Sultan Abdullah is of the opinion that the transmission of Covid-19 is at a critical stage and there is a need for a declaration of the Proclamation of a State of Emergency under Article 150 of the Federal Constitution, said Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara Datuk Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin.
