Hungary's government has issued a decree on the termination of earlier agreed immunities and privileges of the International Investment Bank (IIB) and its executives and staff, according to a report by state news wire MTI.
Budapest Mayor: Participatory Budget Deepens Democracy
The participatory budget, a new form of political engagement, is deepening democracy, Gergely Karácsony, the mayor of Budapest, said at the first meeting of the city’s participatory budget held online on Saturday.
Karácsony said that citizens in this “important experiment” may express their views directly, adding that no one else would make decisions above the heads of the people of Budapest.
He said that a lot of time and energy was needed to run a participatory budget, and he thanked all those who had devoted their free time to the project.
