Mali stop Zimbabwe to storm CHAN quarters
The Eagles of Mali have qualified for the quarter final stage at the on-going Total African Nations Championship (CHAN) 2020 in Cameroon.
Demba Diallo netted the lone goal for Mali against Zimbabwe after 12 minutes at the Reunification Stadium in Douala.
The win means Mali top Group A after hosts Cameroon settled for a goalless draw against Burkina Faso in another match played at the same time at the Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaounde.

Cameroonian Salomon Banga set a trend of defenders scoring Wednesday as his country and Mali moved closer to the African Nations Championship (CHAN) quarter-finals, Burkina Faso remained in contention and Zimbabwe were eliminated.
However, they had to be at their best to get maximum points from the Eagles who had claimed a 1-0 win over Burkina Faso in their opening game as well.
The Indomitable Lions settled early and took a deserved lead after just six minutes. 26-year-old midfielder Anthony Mfede picked the run of Banga who managed to find the back of the net to give the home fans something to celebrate.
The lead lasted just six minutes, and concentration lapses allowed Samake into a good area and he did not disappoint. He managed to put his team onto level terms and ensured the spoils are shared.
