It’s been one week since protesters set up camp at the University of Pennsylvania. Some members of the Penn community delivered a petition to the president’s office demanding the removal of the encampment.
Violence broke out Wednesday evening at an encampment at Sproul Plaza on the UC Berkeley campus after days of peaceful assembly in response to the Israel-Hamas war, a contrast to arrests and turmoil at other American schools.
Protesters are calling it an informal encampment to comply with university guidelines. That’s why students sat on tarps and brought umbrellas not tents or any other structures that could be used as temporary shelters.
