There seems no end in sight to the crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Bayelsa State as Israel Sunny-Goli, a chieftain of the party and loyalist of Timipre Sylva, candidate of the party for the forthcoming governorship election, has withdrawn his support. Sunny-Goli, the immediate past member representing Nembe-Brass federal constituency, at a news conference on Thursday in Yenagoa, said the former petroleum resources minister, his principal of over 20 years, has no structure to defeat Governor Douye Diri of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The PUNCH gathered on Monday that the anti-Sylva elements made their plans known at the weekend, citing the lingering crisis of confidence that his leadership style had allegedly brought upon the state chapter of the party before and after his emergence as the governorship candidate in April 2023.
