WESTON A local family has donated $4.3 million to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham, the largest financial gift in the organization s history.
The donation from Valerie Trotman and her family will support the hospital s expansion of its intensive care unit and behavioral health services.
“My family’s continued investment in Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital-Needham is our expression of admiration for the work that the hospital does to care for and strengthen our community,” said Trotman in a statement. “It gives us great satisfaction to be part of the continued expansion and growth at the hospital and we deeply admire the hospital leadership in their relentless pursuit to create and realize new opportunities to bring more medical services close to home.”

Substance Prevention Alliance of Needham Youth Attend CADCA’S National Leadership Forum to Increase Substance Use and Misuse Prevention Efforts
NEEDHAM, MA – Youth representatives from the Substance Prevention Alliance of Needham virtually joined thousands of substance use and misuse prevention specialists and community coalition advocates from February 1-4, 2021, for CADCA’s (Community Anti-Drug Coalitions of America s) 31st Annual National Leadership Forum.
“I was honored to be part of CADCA’s National Leadership Forum,” says Sophia Posada, Needham High School 11th grader and prevention advocate. “During the week, we worked on building our skills and strategies to address substance misuse issues throughout Needham, MA. We also had the opportunity to meet directly with our state’s Congressional Representatives to advocate for the substance misuse prevention needs in our community and throughout the state.”
