More electric vehicles in use – In addition to Helsinki, electric cars will now also be used in Turku, Tampere, Espoo, and Vantaa to deliver Posti s parcels home

In October, Posti announced a new clean vehicle roadmap, including a plan to introduce thousands of new electric, biogas, and hydrogen vehicles within the next eight years. By the end of last year, Posti already had more than 200 electric vans and will purchase 100 more this year. Now, one concrete change made possible by the increasing number of electric vehicles is the extension of parcel delivery using fully electric cars not only in Helsinki but also in Espoo, Vantaa, and a large part of Turku (postal code 20 area) and Tampere (postal code 33 area).

Black Friday kicked off the Christmas season in e-commerce. Posti delivered over 1.4 parcels during last week. Even though Black Friday was officially on November 25, sales campaigns took place throughout the week. Many stores started their campaigns already on the pervious Friday.

Posti to open its temporary pickup points, Saturday parcel deliveries to start in 13 cities

The Christmas season is a busy time for parcel deliveries. This week, Posti is starting Saturday parcel deliveries and opening temporary pickup points across Finland to help parcels reach their destination smoothly. “We delivered around 7.4 million parcels during last year’s peak season. This year our estimates are more modest due to the global situation, but the parcel volumes will still be high. We will do everything in our power to ensure smooth deliveries and Christmas spirit,” says Tommi Kässi, Posti’s Vice President for eCommerce and Delivery Services.
