we didn t have any huge one. we didn t have any big, strong tornado that stay on the ground for a long time. we avoided that. this morning we have a couple of tornado watches. we re watching the strong line of storms rolling through mississippi heading across alabama as we go throughout the morning. isolated tornados but wouldn t be big ones. they would be smaller ones. we re getting drenched on ohio river. flash flooding along the kentucky, illinois, indiana borders. heading through greenwood, mississippi, worst over you. columbus, to birmingham to huntsville, you ll see the storms over you. as far as the severe weather risk, a slight risk for tusk lou is a, birmingham, knoxville. we don t have the tornado threat like yesterday. wind damage will be the biggest problem during the day today. what of a relief. i would say we got lucky no fatalities. declassified. we will get the first look into

been, but it is so dry out here, extreme to exceptional drought across portions of california. there is the satellite radar imagery. much of california not getting in on the moisture from what was a tropical system out in the pacific. we are getting some heavy rains moving into the southwest though. it s just unfortunate we can t get some of that moisture into yosemite to help firefighters. forecast rainfall, they could get two, three to four inches of heavy rain in this desert area. that could be a problem. flash flooding will be an issue. also looking at the threat for flash flooding across the northern rockies and northern high plains as well as threat for severe weather. we could see large hail, damaging winds, heavy down pours, isolated tornados. the other big story, doesn t feel like september. feels like summertime across much of the country. the central u.s. in some cases 15 to 20 degrees above average. look at some of these daytime highs we are going to see across the central

wind gusts record the at over 40 miles an hour. so whiteout conditions are a concern. blizzard conditions across the area and winter storm warnings from eastern colorado all the way up into sections of northwestern illinois. a very widespread area that will see significant snowfall of six inches. in chicago we re expecting at least six inches as we head into tuesday. the center of the storm across portions of oklahoma and texas. we ll move north and east and impact you in chicago as we head later today on tuesday. on the southern end of the storm system we have the possibility of severe weather. some thunderstorms out here across new orleans, jackson, mississippi, southern panhandle and georgia and alabama could look at isolated tornados, damaging wind gusts and isolated hail from some of the storms. be careful if you live out in the area. we re seeing a possibility of severe weather. heavy rain expected across portions of georgia where we have the drought conditions.
